My savory version of the Amish Friendship Bread not Cake

I have recently been given a starter for an Amish friendship bread, but this was really not a bread but more of a cake. Do not get me wrong I like cakes, but if somebody tells me it is bread, my palate then develops certain expectations: more savory than sweet - so this is no bread it is a CAKE.

Anyhow, the original recipe for this bread makes a really nice sweet cake, with the texture of a muffin, really moist and with lots of cinnamon taste. As I really wanted a bread, I decided to modify the recipe to make it savory - The result is really yummy, so here it is:

Prepare the starter as told until day 10, add all ingredients needed to make the 4 starters in the recipe. Divide the stuff into 4 ziplock bags (1 cup each) and prepare your bread with the rest as below:
  • Replace the 1 cup of oil for 1 stick of melted butter
  • Do not add the sugar, vanilla, cinammon nor the vanilla puddings
  • Add 1 cup of grated cheddar cheese (adding more to taste if you like it cheesier but no more than 2 cups)
and that is it - keep the rest of the ingredients as is and do the rest as told on the original instructions.

The resulting BREAD will be nice and cheesy with a hint of sweet after taste, kind of like the taste of a fresh cheese scone but with the texture of a muffing. Really nice.
